Ayios Trias Basilica
Iskele
To the North of the small village of Sipahi, this basilica has been dated to the end of the 5thcentury.
Destroyed by Arab raiders in the 7thcentury, it was discovered by accident in 1957 and is famous for its well-preserved mosaics.
Adorned with geometric, leaf and cross motifs, there is also an inscription in front of the main apse which credits a deacon by the name of Heraclos as having “paid for the building of this part of the structure”.
